This project consisted of the construction of a two and three storey extension (gross floor area of approx 450 sq metres) to the existing Secondary School including 7 No. classrooms; stores; offices and Ladies and Gents toilets, along with refurbishment of local classrooms, and the construction of a steel portal frame Sports Hall (gross floor area of approx 840 sq metres). Associated site works included the alteration to existing entrance road, new car parking; Sit down area; landscaping and ground’s lighting.
The construction generally comprised in situ concrete strip and pad foundations with solid block work rising walls; external rendered block work insulated cavity walls; Internal rendered of fairface block work; Precast concrete floor and stair units; The Sports Hall comprised of a structural steel and concrete frame with Kingspan composite metal roof whilst the extension comprised of timber truss and natural slated roof; Powder coated aluminium doors and windows; Associated Mechanical, Electrical and Lift installations.
We completed the building to a very high spec including suspended ceilings; fitted furniture; floor covering; floor and wall tiling; decoration etc. The existing school remained operational during the construction of the new facilities with the existing prefabricated classrooms being protected during construction.
